01Is Subsight really free?
Subsight is MIT-licensed and fully open source. Self-hosted is free. The hosted version has a free tier with 5 subscriptions and a Pro plan for unlimited use. You only pay for Supabase and Groq usage for self-hosted, both have generous free tiers that cover most users.
03Where is my data stored?
In your own Supabase PostgreSQL database. Subsight never has direct access to your data. You own it completely, and you can export or delete it at any time.
05What export formats are supported?
JSON, CSV, and PDF, accessible via a single click or keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+E (JSON), Ctrl+S (CSV), Ctrl+P (PDF).
07Can I self-host on my own server?
Absolutely. Clone the GitHub repo, set up a Supabase project, add your environment variables, and deploy anywhere Next.js runs: Vercel, Railway, fly.io, or any VPS.
02Do I need a Groq API key?
Only for AI auto-fill. Every other feature (dashboard, tracking, simulation, export, analytics, settings) works without it. You can add a key at any time in Settings.
04Can it detect subscriptions from my bank?
Not currently. Subsight is manual + AI-assisted. Bank auto-detection is on the roadmap, but we prioritize privacy. No bank credentials needed today.
06Is there a mobile app?
Not yet, web-only today, but the interface is fully responsive and works well on mobile browsers. A native app is on the roadmap.
08How does renewal alerting work?
Set your SMTP credentials in Settings and choose a reminder window (1, 3, 7, or 14 days). A cron job checks daily and sends an email before each renewal date.
